Bardahl, The Mexican Cars that existed 30 years before

Carrazo Bardahl

Bardahl is a brand of petroleum oil additives, lubricants, and gasoline additives for motor vehicles and internal combustion engines manufactured by Bardahl Manufacturing Corporation.

In 1976, Bardahl Mexico created a series of commercials with animated cars to promote its brand, originally created by Augusto Elías's agency. The main character, Carrazo (in Argentina known as Cochazo), a red classic car that seems to combine the Chevrolet Corvette and the Ford Mustang, but also had other characters such as Baby Vagoneta, Ferrato, Forzon, Mustanguia, Porsche, Renolio, Mercedo, Taxilio, Tsuru San, Wagoneta and Voshito.

Later, in 2006, after the premiere of cars, Sergio Diaz Torres, president of Bardahl Mexico declared that believed it was a coincidence and in an interview he said: "We spoke with the people from Disney, their lawyers came and we reached a global arrangement so that no one is misinformed”.

It´s worth mentioning that according to the manager, they signed an agreement in which it was agreed that Bardahl would make small cars for the market and continue advertising with his characters, while Disney would continue with his films without problems. All this because Disney on June 6, 1952 had released a short film called "The little Blue Coupe" that served as inspiration for the creation of Cars.
