Converse Shoes Rubber Company was founded in 1908 by Marquis Mills Converse in Malden Massachusetts.

In 1917, the company created the first shoes called All Star, composed only of rubber and canvas; and They were designed with the purpose of being a shoe for the professional basketball league.

By 1921, the basketball player Charles “Chuck” Taylor joined a Converse-sponsored basketball team called the Converse All Stars. Taylor took high school basketball courses and while teaching the fundamentals of the game, he sold All Star sneakers.

Taylor also made improvements to the sneakers. Their ideas included greater flexibility and support, and also incorporated a patch to protect the ankle. These shoes quickly gained popularity, and later basketball players, Olympic players, and even American soldiers during World War II began to use them. In 1930 after Chuck Taylor made improvements to the shoe, Converse decided to incorporate his name into the Converse All Star logo. The model then became known as the “Chuck Taylor” All Star.

Converse had dominated the sneaker market from the 1920´s to the 1970´s, but as other companies grown in popularity, Converse declined. You can see the Converse Made by you commercial on our YouTube commercials channel, we leave it below.

Converse filed for bankruptcy several times and finally on July 8, 2003, Nike bought Converse for around $305 million dollars and it was, in this way, that converse shoes began to be manufactured in foreign countries such as China, Vietnam and Indonesia.
