History of Fingerboard

Updated: Jun 26, 2022

The fingerboard is a 1:8 scale replica of the skateboard, which is controlled with the fingers (index and middle) and the tricks that can be done on a 1:1 scale board are replicated.

The fingerboard was invented in the 80's by Cameron Fox Briant and the measurements of these can vary from 95 to 100 mm long and width can vary from 26 to 34 mm.

Professional skateboarder Lance Mountain is recognized as the first fingerskater, and thanks to his introduction in the "future primitive" video in 1985 for the American company Powell Peralta, the fingerskate became known around the world.

For these years, Lane Mountain wrote an article on how to fingerskate in Transworld Skateboarding magazine. Despite being a novelty in the 80's, fingerboards reached their popularity in the 90's, this is when the Tech Deck brand was born, while brands like Berlinwood, Blackriver-Ramps, Prete, Last Exit, Homewood, Frost, and FlatFace have created high-quality collectibles.
